The Swim in Balance step by step approach with the instructor in the water demonstrating swim strokes and guiding students to practice the strokes is an excellent way for adults to learn swim strokes and develop good swim habits! Small groups in a pool where one can stand is also a great idea. One also learns through the Swim in Balance approach a philosophical component about learning to relax the body and trust some of the natural characteristics of water and buoyancy to help one swim. This is important especially for adult learners who come to swim lessons with a natural fear of water.
